Saputara Likely to Offer Bungee Jumping in 2014

The advent of 2014 is likely to bring some good news for the daredevil adventure freaks as Saputara, the only hill station of Gujarat would be offering bungee jumping. Following Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, Saputara will be reckoned as another leading hotspot for adventure tourism in India. Adventurers could bungee jump from the area’s highest peak at the Governor’s Hill, also called as Sunset Point or Table Top Point.

It’s around a decade now that bungee jumping is done in India, but it will be the first time that the adventure lovers at Saputara would get an excellent opportunity of enjoying it here without heading to Nepal or New Zealand for this adventure sport. Thanks to the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and the Climbing World for the beginning of structural designing and feasibility studies for this adventure sport. And it is expected that the studies would be completed by the mid of 2014.

Nirat Bhatt, the director of Climbing World, renowned as the developer of adventure sports park at Saputara stated, “We have started load testing, structural designing, concept and technical planning for bungee jumping. The rocks in Saputara are very fragile and thus we will have to spend a lot of time in load testing.” As per Bhatt, the concept, design and technical planning is done by them, whereas equipment for bungee jumping such as cranes, cantilever bungee platform and other materials will be procured from a reputed adventure sports firm in New Zealand.

As of today, the adventure sports park nestled at the Governor’s Hill consists of over 13 adventure activities including zorbing, 300 to 450 meters long Zip line passing over the Gira waterfalls, ground obstacle, mountain biking, ATV tours, para-gliding and tracking.
