Here is something interesting that would surely grab the attention of adventure lovers! The Kullu administration has lifted the ban it had imposed on aero and water sports, two months ago. With weather conditions returning to normal, the administration has lifted this ban.
From September 17, visitors coming to Manali will be able to enjoy river rafting, paragliding, river crossing and other water and aero adventure sports. Keeping in view the safety of tourists, travelers were not allowed to go for these activities from July 15 to September 15, when the level of streams and rivers is above the normal along with high-speed winds that make it risky for paragliders.
According to Ashwani Kumar, the district tourism development officer, “Both paragliding and river rafting are starting officially from Monday. Now the water in rivers has come down to safe levels and weather is pleasant for paragliding.” He also added that in order to keep a check on all the adventure activities, specialized teams have been made.
The Kullu Administration had put bans on paragliding under the Himachal Pradesh Aero Sports Rules, 2004 and river rafting under River Rafting Act 2005. Ashwani further stated that, “Steps have been taken for the safety of the tourists. All service providers need to have valid license to operate rafting and paragliding. Many more officials have been empowered to challan the illegal service providers.”
